Terms of service
Last updated 25 October 2026
These terms apply when you book work with Castle Site Services, a sole-trader business based in Launceston, Cornwall, operated by Stanley Keighley (“we”, “us”). They are written to be clear and fair. Nothing in them affects your legal rights as a consumer.
1. Quotes and prices
- We give you a price before any work begins. Where possible this is a fixed price. For larger or less usual work we confirm the price in writing, by message or email.
- Quotes are free and valid for 30 days unless we say otherwise.
- Guide prices on our website and price list cover labour only and are a starting point. The price we agree with you is the one that applies.
- If the work turns out to need more time or materials than expected, we will tell you and agree any change with you before carrying on. We will not add to the price without your agreement.
2. Materials
Materials are charged at cost, with receipts. We will tell you the likely cost before buying. You are welcome to supply your own materials. We cannot guarantee materials you provide.
3. Payment
- No deposit is required.
- Payment is due when the work is complete, unless we have agreed otherwise in writing, for example monthly invoicing for regular business customers.
- We send an itemised invoice with a secure card payment link and give you a receipt once you have paid.
- If an invoice is not paid on time, we will contact you to agree a way forward. We reserve the right to charge interest and recovery costs as allowed by law where a business customer pays late.
4. Access, parking and the work area
- Please make sure we can get in at the agreed time and that the work area is reasonably clear.
- Please tell us about anything hidden or hazardous we should know about, such as pipes or cables in walls, asbestos, or pets.
- Please tell us where we can park. Any paid parking needed close to the property is added to the invoice at cost.
5. Changes and cancellations
- Please give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or rearrange. We will happily find you another time.
- If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, or we cannot get access at the agreed time, we may charge a call-out fee of up to one hour’s minimum charge to cover the time reserved.
- If you book with us away from our premises or remotely, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of agreeing the booking under the Consumer Contracts Regulations. If you ask us to start work within that period, you will pay for the work already carried out up to the point you cancel.
- We may need to reschedule because of illness, severe weather or circumstances outside our control. We will tell you as soon as we can and offer another time.
6. What we do and do not do
We carry out general repairs, assembly, installation, mounting and garden works. We do not carry out gas, electrical or plumbing work, or anything that legally requires a registered, certified or specially qualified tradesperson. We also do not carry out structural work. If a job falls outside what we can do safely and properly, we will say so and suggest you contact the right specialist.
7. Our workmanship
- We carry out all work with reasonable care and skill, as the law requires.
- If there is a problem with our workmanship, tell us within 14 days of completion and we will put it right at no charge, at a time that suits you.
- This does not cover faults caused by misuse, accidents, normal wear and tear, work by someone else afterwards, or materials or items you supplied.
- Your statutory rights are not affected.
8. Liability
We take care of your property and will make good any damage we cause through our own negligence. We are not liable for loss or damage we could not reasonably have foreseen, including problems caused by hidden pipes, cables or defects that were not visible or not disclosed to us. We do not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
9. Photos
We may take photos of finished work for our records. We will only use them on our website or social media, and never with your name or address, if you have said that is fine.
10. Complaints
If you are unhappy with any part of our service, please tell us as soon as possible by phone, WhatsApp or email. We will look into it promptly and aim to resolve it fairly.
11. General
- These terms, together with the price agreed for your job, are the whole agreement between us for that job.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, although you may bring a claim in the courts of your home nation if you live elsewhere in the UK.
- We use your personal information as explained in our privacy notice.
