Privacy notice
Last updated 25 October 2026
Castle Site Services (“we”, “us”) is a sole-trader business based in Launceston, Cornwall, operated by Stanley Keighley. This notice explains what personal information we collect when you use this website or book work with us, why we collect it, and your rights. We are the data controller for this information.
In short: we only collect what we need to reply to your request and carry out your job. We do not use advertising cookies or analytics, we do not sell your information, and the booking form does not store your details on a server.
What we collect and why
- Booking requests. Your name, mobile number, address, postcode, the work you need and any photos you choose to send. We use these to reply, price the work, arrange a visit and carry it out. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract, and then performing that contract.
- Job and payment records. Invoices, quotes, receipts and payment records. We keep these to meet our legal and tax obligations. Our lawful basis is legal obligation.
- Messages. If you contact us by WhatsApp, phone, text or email, we keep the conversation so we can deal with your enquiry and any later questions about the work. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests, and contract where you have booked us.
- Reviews. If you choose to leave a review, we may quote it with your first name, with your permission.
How the booking form works
When you submit the booking form, your device opens WhatsApp or your email app with your request ready to send. The details travel to us only when you press send in that app. Photos you add stay on your device until you attach them yourself. Messages sent through WhatsApp or email are also handled by those services under their own privacy policies.
Information stored on your device
If you leave “Remember my name, phone and address” ticked, the website saves those details, and your last request, in your browser’s local storage on your own device so you do not have to type them again. They are not sent to us. Select “Not you? Clear” on the form, or clear your browser’s site data, to remove them. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Third-party services this website uses
- Postcode check. When you type a postcode into the booking form, it is sent to the postcodes.io service to work out roughly how far you are from Launceston and whether a travel charge applies. Only the postcode is sent.
- Map. The map of our service area loads map tiles from OpenStreetMap, which means your device’s IP address is visible to OpenStreetMap when the map loads.
- Hosting. This website is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical information such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.
- Card payments. If you pay by card, payment is handled by SumUp. We do not see or store your card details.
Some of these providers may process information outside the UK. Where they do, they are responsible for appropriate safeguards under data protection law.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your information. We share it only where needed to do the job: with payment and messaging providers as above, with our accountant or HMRC where the law requires, and with a professional adviser or insurer if there is a claim or dispute.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to a booking: up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Invoices, receipts and payment records: usually 6 years, to meet tax and accounting requirements.
- Details for regular customers: for as long as we work together, then deleted when no longer needed.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, and ask for it in a portable format. Some information we must keep by law, but we will explain if that applies. To use any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
